The Hospital Cup is one of the oldest charity competitions in the County it's history going back over one hundred years. It's purpose is to raise funds for the Swaffham Cottage Hospital through the Swaffham Community Hospital League of Friends.
A busy week of local football all for a very worthwhile cause. Tuesday Castle Acre beat Swaffham Town in the first semi final, the Swifts clinching their final place with a two one win. Wednesday, Sporle claimed their place by beating Necton five one. Yesterday's final went to the wire, the score one a-piece after ninety minutes, the deadlock finally broken in the second half of extra time Castle Acre claiming the spoils with their second goal. The weather not dampening the atmosphere all three fixtures well supported with all proceeds going to the cause. Our thanks to the Match Officials who gave their time, The George Hotel who provided after match hospitality, MSM Safety Management Services, the Swaffham Conservative Club, MT Services and Gerry Palmer of the 'Black and White Barrows' for their match and final medal sponsorship. It is anticipated that through the gate fee, a bucket collection and a raffle that well over one thousand pounds has been raised.
