Mother Hubbards & Handmade Doughnut Co sponsor the Pedlars once again ...

We are pleased to announce that our ball and match sponsor this Saturday, for our last 1st team home game of the season, is once again our good friends at Mother Hubbards Fish and Chips & The Handmade Doughnut Company.

You’ll remember from past news releases this week that this Saturday to gain entry to the match it is pay what you like to enter and alcohol prices are only £2.50! well it gets even better as the Handmade Doughnut Company have kindly provided 80 free doughnuts which some lucky fans will get to try on a first come first serve basis! I’m sure you’ll agree they are the finest doughnuts around, well that’s if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one.

Mother Hubbard’s are the towns most experienced and without doubt, best Fish and Chip takeaway; they are also advocates and keen supporters of local sports within the community, this is something we should all certainly appreciate.

Here’s a recent review that puts into words nicely how great the fish and chips are:

“So, on an overcast Friday evening, I found myself in a long queue outside this chip shop. Possibly the longest chip shop queue that I’ve ever been in. That has to be a good sign, right?

Indeed, it was. Three delicious portions of fish’n’chips were served up, alongside a little tub of home-made tartare sauce (no squeezy sachet nonsense).

There was plenty of choice, three sizes of cod, two of haddock, two of rock, plaice, skate, wholetail scampi, fishcakes, cod roe, saveloys, sausages, spring rolls, pies, burgers, fried chicken, battered mushrooms and plenty of moisteners in the form of beans, curry sauce, peas (mushy or not) and gravy. They also do pizzas and garlic bread, jacket potatoes and salads. There are also desserts. And a whole cabinet of fresh doughnuts.

A cracking fish’n’chip shop with lovely friendly staff, and you can see why it is so popular (there were no queues outside on the other side of the market place). Definitely the place to go if you find yourself in this charming sleepy market town.”

I’m sure the review will have tempted you indeed, good news is that Mother Hubbard’s will be open after the match Saturday, so what better place to get your dinner on your travels home? Better still you can even decide what you like before you turn up as there will be menus dotted around the clubhouse.

I want to talk about the Handmade Doughnut company now, a recent, but certainly welcome addition to our town and part of Mother Hubbard’s. Here’s a little information about the company:

“Off the back of a very successful fish and chip shop in Swaffham UK, and with a background in baking, our founder, Andrew, knew he could shake up the doughnut scene. The Handmade Doughnut Company was born.

Making fresh doughnuts daily, we use only the freshest and best of ingredients to ensure they taste the absolute best they can. Our doughnuts are delivered to stores daily to ensure freshness.

We are bakers who hand make all our doughnuts fresh every day from the finest local ingredients we can source, including our flours, jams, and toppings.

Alongside creating fresh doughnuts for sale in shops, we also cater for business events, food festivals and music events.”

Recently the Handmade doughnuts have made their way to local farm shops and farmers markets across the county, and rightly so as they are delicious!

We really can’t thank Andrew & Emma enough for their support for this season and years gone by, they have been nothing short of brilliant, True advocates of their local community!
